Calvin Fernandes
Distributed Systems & Data Engineering Lead
An accomplished software engineer and solutions architect with more than a decade of experience building distributed systems, cloud-native platforms and large-scale data solutions across media, sports betting, financial services, loyalty and advertising technology. With deep expertise in Scala, event-driven architecture, stream processing, AWS, Kafka, Cassandra, DynamoDB and Spark, he has led resilient, high-throughput systems from architecture and implementation through observability and production support. An active open-source architect and mentor, Calvin also helps engineering teams adopt scalable designs and modern functional-development practices. He has notably contributed to open-source projects such as Virgil, ZIO and Trace4Cats, used in environments that demand every bit of performance, including Disney+, SiriusXM and Morgan Stanley.
